HOLMS self-powered attachments for electric equipment fleets

HOLMS Attachments has introduced a revolutionary new sweeper attachment for heavy equipment fleets, designed to simplify the electrification process. This innovative attachment comes with its own power source, eliminating the need for a mechanical or battery-powered power take-off (PTO).

Commercial trucks are not just vehicles for transportation; they also serve various purposes through specialized implements like street sweepers, cherry pickers, and tow beds. However, most of these attachments were originally developed for diesel platforms, relying on hydraulics or other PTO systems powered directly by internal combustion engines (ICE).

With the rise of electric vehicles (EVs), operating these tools becomes more complex as they need to draw power from their batteries, impacting both range and performance. Some attachments even require electrically-driven spline shafts or “ePTOs” to function properly.

The eSL Electric Sweeper attachment from HOLMS is designed to address these challenges and simplify the operation of electric equipment. This innovative attachment optimizes the uptime of EVs and equipment assets, allowing users to complete more tasks between charging sessions.

According to Dan Snedecor, President and General Manager of HOLMS Attachments, “Electric equipment has taken many different directions, and we realized the importance of not relying on the power from the machine itself. By providing a separate power source, we can ensure easier maintenance and operation for end-users.”

The eSL Electric Sweeper is controlled from the cab of the wheel loader via Bluetooth and features a 10 kWh, 48V li-ion battery pack, providing three-and-a-half hours of runtime on a single charge. The battery can be recharged in just 90 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime.

This new approach to electric equipment attachments is a significant step towards modernizing the industry and adapting to the growing trend of electrification. With companies like HOLMS leading the way, the transition to electric machinery is becoming more feasible and efficient.

In conclusion, the eSL Electric Sweeper attachment from HOLMS is a game-changer in the heavy equipment industry, offering a convenient and practical solution for electrifying fleets. By providing its own power source, this attachment streamlines the operation of electric equipment and enhances productivity. As the industry continues to evolve towards electric solutions, innovations like the eSL Electric Sweeper are paving the way for a more sustainable future.
