Where I go, Yo-Go: exploring London in an electric golf buggy

The Innovative Yo-Go Buggy: A Sustainable Solution for Urban Mobility

Samuel Bailey, an automotive engineer, is the mastermind behind the revolutionary Yo-Go buggies. Frustrated with the high cost of electric cars in London, Bailey sought out an alternative and found the perfect solution in China, where the buggies are manufactured by Marshell.

Equipped with a small 5kWh battery powering a 4kW electric motor, the Yo-Go buggy offers a commendable range of 30 miles. Charging can be done through London’s lamp-post network or via a roof-mounted solar panel, which can provide a six-mile top-up after a day of sunshine.

Despite its golf cart origins, the Yo-Go buggy is officially homologated for UK roads, classified as an L6e quadricycle. Its redesigned body enhances practicality and weather resistance, making it a viable option for urban commuting.

Upon first glance, the compact size of the Yo-Go buggy may raise doubts about its roadworthiness in London. However, the vehicle’s efficient design and functionality dispel any initial skepticism. The comfortable seats, basic plastic interior, and ample storage space are notable features.

Driving the Yo-Go buggy is a straightforward and enjoyable experience. With intuitive foot pedals for acceleration and braking, as well as minimal distractions inside the cabin, navigating through city streets is a breeze. The agile handling and responsive regenerative braking further enhance the driving experience.

Despite its narrow frame, the Yo-Go buggy offers a smooth ride over uneven surfaces, thanks to its independent front suspension. The vehicle’s narrow track ensures maneuverability through congested urban areas, making it an ideal choice for city dwellers.
