Xiaomi is gearing up to officially launch its highly anticipated first SUV model, the YU7, on Thursday, June 26. The launch event is scheduled to commence at 7:00 pm on the same day, promising an exciting unveiling of the new vehicle.

The YU7 is positioned as a direct competitor to Tesla’s popular Model Y, entering the electric vehicle market with a strong contender. Xiaomi EV, the smartphone giant’s electric vehicle unit, made the announcement of the launch date on Weibo, generating significant buzz and anticipation among consumers and industry enthusiasts alike.

In addition to the YU7 SUV, Xiaomi will also introduce other cutting-edge products at the launch event. This includes the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 foldable smartphone and the Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro, featuring the company’s in-house developed Xring O1 chip. Furthermore, a “personal smart device for the next generation” will also be unveiled, showcasing Xiaomi’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement.

The pricing details of the YU7 have been a topic of speculation, with Xiaomi’s founder, chairman, and CEO, Lei Jun, indicating that the official pricing will be revealed just 1-2 days before the launch. Contrary to rumors, the starting price of the YU7 will not be significantly higher than the SU7 electric sedan, which has garnered substantial success in the market since its debut.

Xiaomi’s entry into the electric vehicle industry may have been relatively recent, but the company has already made a significant impact. The SU7 series, Xiaomi’s first EV model, has seen impressive demand, with customers facing wait times of up to 51 weeks. In May alone, over 28,000 units of the SU7 were delivered, showcasing the strong market reception for Xiaomi’s electric vehicles.

The YU7 has generated considerable excitement since its debut event, surpassing the initial reception of the SU7 sedan. Pre-order inquiries for the YU7 have exceeded expectations, with a significantly higher number of users paying deposits to reserve the SUV compared to the SU7 during the same period.

With the official launch of the YU7 on the horizon, Xiaomi is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market, offering consumers a compelling alternative to established competitors. Stay tuned for more updates on the Xiaomi YU7 SUV as it makes its mark in the industry.
