Amazon has recently made a significant move towards a more sustainable future by ordering an additional 5,000 fully electric eVito and eSprinter vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. These electric vehicles will be integrated into Amazon’s Delivery Service Partners (DSP) network, marking the largest single order for Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles to date.

This order follows a previous one made in 2020, where Amazon added over 1,800 fully electric eVito and eSprinter vehicles to its delivery fleet. The new batch of vehicles will be deployed in five different European countries, with a substantial portion of the fleet operating in Germany. Amazon estimates that these electric vehicles will be responsible for delivering more than 200 million parcels annually.

Sagree Sardien, Head of Sales & Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Vans, expressed excitement about deepening the relationship with Amazon and working together towards a fully electric transportation future. He emphasized how the eVito and eSprinter models are tailored to meet the efficiency and range demands of commercial customers, showcasing the perfect combination of locally CO2-emission-free driving, performance, comfort, and low operating costs.

Neil Emery, Director of Global Fleet & Product at Amazon, highlighted the company’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions in its operations through the deployment of these electric delivery vans. Amazon is actively transforming its transportation network by incorporating electric bikes, vans, trucks, and infrastructure to drive electrification and decarbonization across Europe.

In addition to this groundbreaking partnership, Just Auto is currently accepting nominations for their prestigious Excellence Awards, which celebrate innovation, leadership, and impact within the industry. This is an opportunity for businesses to showcase their achievements, highlight industry advancements, and gain global recognition. Nominations are open, and companies are encouraged to submit their entries to be honored among the best in the industry.

Overall, Amazon’s latest order of 5,000 electric delivery vans from Mercedes-Benz signifies a significant step towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future for transportation. By integrating electric vehicles into its network, Amazon is not only reducing carbon emissions but also setting a positive example for other companies to follow suit in embracing electric mobility.
