Great Wall Motor Reports Mixed Sales Results in June 2024
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor (“GWM”) recently announced its monthly sales figures for June 2024, revealing a 6.55% year-on-year decrease to 98,080 vehicles. Despite this overall decline, the TANK brand stood out as the only brand to achieve positive sales growth during the month. However, the company’s year-to-date performance remained in positive territory, driven by strong growth in the TANK brand and steady performance in HAVAL and WEY.
Brand Performance Overview
HAVAL experienced a significant decline in June sales, dropping by 19.11% compared to the same period last year to 47,729 units. However, its year-to-date sales increased slightly by 2.42%, indicating overall stability in the brand’s performance.
WEY saw a sharp decline of 55.48% in June sales with 2,939 vehicles sold. Despite this, the brand’s year-to-date sales improved by 9.46%, showcasing resilience in the annual perspective.
The Great Wall Pick-up segment experienced a 7.7% year-over-year decrease in June sales, totaling 15,251 units. Its year-to-date sales also dropped by 10.41% compared to the same period last year.
ORA witnessed significant drops in both June sales and year-to-date sales, with declines of 39.8% and 32.87%, respectively.
TANK emerged as a standout performer, with a remarkable 104.02% year-on-year increase in June sales, reaching 26,059 units. Year-to-date sales for TANK nearly doubled, showing a 98.94% increase and positioning it as the fastest-growing brand within GWM.
The company also reported strong sales in the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment, with a volume of 26,107 units in June and a year-to-date volume of 132,374 units, marking a 41.99% increase over the previous year.
The company’s overseas business also experienced robust growth, with sales in overseas markets surging 62.59% year over year in the first half of 2024 to 201,500 units. In June alone, 38,104 units were sold in overseas markets.
