Geely, a prominent player in the Chinese automotive industry, has recently announced a significant increase in its 2025 sales target. The company has raised its original goal by approximately 11 percent, from 2.71 million units to 3 million units, citing its strong sales performance in the first half of the year as the driving force behind this decision.
According to a filing made by Geely on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the company is confident in its ability to achieve this revised sales target. Data released by the automotive giant revealed that it sold an impressive 236,036 vehicles in June alone, reflecting a remarkable year-on-year increase of 42.12 percent. This marks the 10th consecutive month in which Geely has surpassed the 200,000 units sales mark.
In the first six months of the year, Geely recorded sales of 1,409,180 vehicles, a substantial 47.45 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This outstanding performance was largely attributed to the success of the Geely Galaxy sub-brand and the strong demand for its battery electric vehicle (BEV) models.
Geely Galaxy, which was officially launched as a new product lineup in February 2023 and later upgraded to a standalone brand in March 2025, saw a significant surge in sales. Notably, the Xingyuan compact electric vehicle (EV) within the Geely Galaxy lineup emerged as one of the top-selling models in the Chinese market. The brand is also gearing up to introduce new models, including the hybrid sedan A7.
In the realm of electric vehicles, Geely experienced substantial growth in both BEV and PHEV sales. In the first half of the year, BEV sales reached 510,803 units, marking a remarkable 173.09 percent year-on-year increase. Additionally, PHEV sales for the same period totaled 214,348 units, reflecting a 61.00 percent growth rate.
Despite its impressive domestic performance, Geely’s export figures experienced a slight decline, with 182,921 vehicles exported in the first half of the year, representing an 8 percent decrease compared to the previous year.
In summary, Geely’s decision to raise its 2025 sales target underscores the company’s confidence in its ability to sustain its strong sales momentum and capitalize on the growing demand for electric vehicles in the Chinese market. With a focus on innovation and a diverse product lineup, Geely is well-positioned to achieve its ambitious sales goals and solidify its position as a key player in the automotive industry.
