Svolt Energy, a Chinese battery giant, recently celebrated a significant milestone at its joint venture factory in Thailand. The factory, established in partnership with Banpu Next, rolled off its 10,000th electric vehicle (EV) battery pack on June 30. This achievement underscores Svolt’s commitment to expanding its operations in the Southeast Asian market.
The Thailand factory boasts state-of-the-art production lines equipped with cutting-edge digital systems, achieving an impressive production line yield rate of 99.9 percent. Chen Lei, the general manager of Svolt’s Thailand base, expressed pride in the factory’s success, highlighting it as a pivotal step in Svolt’s strategic growth in the region.
In addition to this milestone, Svolt is ramping up the construction of an energy storage assembly production line in Thailand. The company has ambitious plans to enhance its presence in the light-duty power and energy storage sectors across Southeast Asia. Furthermore, Svolt aims to broaden its collaboration efforts to provide EV battery and battery energy storage solutions in the Asia-Pacific region, catering to local demand and strengthening regional supply chains.
Notably, Svolt’s battery packs produced in Thailand are already being utilized in vehicles such as Great Wall Motor’s Ora Good Cat, Haval H6, and Tank 300. This underscores the quality and reliability of Svolt’s products in the market.
Svolt’s journey began as Great Wall Motor’s power battery division in 2012 before transitioning into an independent entity in 2018. The company focuses on developing next-generation battery materials, cells, modules, packs, BMS, and energy storage technology, showcasing a commitment to innovation and sustainability.
The Thai factory commenced construction in July 2023 and achieved its first battery pack production in December of the same year. Svolt’s continued growth is evident, with the company securing a 2.04 percent market share in China’s automotive battery sector, with a battery installation volume of 1.17 GWh.
Moreover, Svolt recently introduced its Fengxing Short Blade Battery featuring a remarkable 6C charging multiplier, enabling rapid charging from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 8.5 minutes. This innovation underscores Svolt’s dedication to advancing battery technology and enhancing user experience.
In conclusion, Svolt Energy’s achievement of producing the 10,000th EV battery pack at its Thailand factory reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and market expansion. With a strong presence in Southeast Asia and plans for further growth in the region, Svolt is poised to make a significant impact in the global battery industry.
