Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s subsidiary Mitsubishi Motors Europe is gearing up to launch the all-new Grandis compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Europe, marking the first vehicle under this name to hit the market in 13 years.
The Grandis, which will be manufactured at Renault’s Valladolid plant in Spain, is built on the Common Module Family (CMF)-B platform sourced from Mitsubishi Motors’ Alliance partner Renault on an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) basis.
Featuring both mild hybrid (MHEV) and hybrid EV (HEV) models, the Grandis boasts a sleek design with 19-inch alloy wheels, a spacious two-row, five-seat interior with adjustable rear seats, and a versatile luggage area.
The MHEV powertrain option includes a 1.3-litre direct fuel-injection gasoline turbo engine, while the HEV model offers a combined output of 115kW. The HEV model combines a four-cylinder 1.8-litre gasoline engine with two electric motors, a power electronics box with two built-in inverters and converters, a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion traction battery, and a smart multi-mode gearbox.
With three driving modes, including an electric-only EV mode, the Grandis provides a dynamic driving experience. It also features a 10.4-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio system with advanced connectivity features, including Google built-in.
In terms of safety, Mitsubishi Motors has equipped the all-new Grandis with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and active safety features to ensure a secure driving experience.
Tatsuo Nakamura, Mitsubishi Motors executive vice president, expressed excitement about the launch of the Grandis, stating, “We are strengthening our lineup in the European market with the introduction of the all-new Grandis, featuring Mitsubishi Motors’ Dynamic Shield design. With an additional launch of the Eclipse Cross BEV model around the same time, we will offer a diverse range of electrified vehicles—HEV, PHEV, and BEV—to meet the varied needs of our customers.”
In other news, Mitsubishi Motors recently reported a 4.4% increase in global production to 75,350 units in May 2025 compared to the same month in 2024.
The all-new Grandis is set to make a significant impact in the European SUV market, combining style, performance, and advanced technology to cater to the evolving needs of customers.
