Ariel Atom Celebrates 25th Birthday with Wild 525bhp Special Edition
Ariel, the renowned British manufacturer of high-performance sports cars, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its iconic Atom spaceframe sports car with the launch of the new 4RR special edition. This track-focused model is the most powerful Atom yet, boasting an impressive 525bhp and 406lb ft of torque thanks to its uprated Honda four-cylinder engine.
The 4RR surpasses even the formidable Atom V8 from 2011, which had 475bhp, making it a true powerhouse in a sub-700kg body. While Ariel has not released specific performance figures for the 4RR, the standard Atom 4R on which it is based achieves a 0-62mph time of just 2.7 seconds with its 400bhp engine.
With an expected weight similar to the Atom 4R’s 680kg, the 4RR is set to deliver a remarkable power-to-weight ratio of 770bhp per tonne. This could potentially reduce the acceleration time to below 2.5 seconds, making it one of the quickest-accelerating combustion cars to come out of Britain.
Limited to just 25 units, the Ariel Atom 4RR is described as a “circuit-focused” special edition designed for serious track enthusiasts looking to push the lightweight Atom to its limits and showcase their driving skills. Full technical details for the 4RR will be revealed later this year, offering a glimpse into the advanced engineering and performance capabilities of this special edition model.
Ariel enthusiasts and performance car aficionados alike can look forward to experiencing the thrill of driving the most powerful Atom yet, with the 4RR promising an exhilarating combination of speed, agility, and precision on the track. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new addition to the Ariel Atom lineup as production of the 4RR gets underway.
