European production of Polestar 7 confirmed for Slovakia

Polestar, a Geely-owned company, has recently announced a partnership with Volvo Cars to manufacture the highly anticipated Polestar 7 in Kosice, Slovakia. The premium compact SUV is set to be launched in 2028 and will be developed using engineering architectures from within the Geely Holding Group.

According to Polestar, the Polestar 7 will benefit from Volvo Cars’ technology base, including group component sharing, next-generation battery density, and in-house developed e-motors. This collaboration aims to leverage synergies within the Group to deliver a cutting-edge vehicle that sets new standards in the premium compact SUV segment.

Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar, expressed excitement about the opportunity to work with Volvo Cars in Europe, stating that it will strengthen their position in the home market. He highlighted the strategic advantage of using Group architectures for future models, allowing access to the latest technologies in a cost-efficient manner.

HÃ¥kan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars, emphasized the importance of collaboration between Volvo Cars and Polestar in delivering outstanding vehicles tailored to distinct customer segments. The construction of the Volvo Cars factory in Kosice began in 2023, with the location offering logistical advantages and a developed supplier base for efficient production.

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, partnerships like the one between Polestar and Volvo Cars demonstrate a commitment to innovation and excellence.
