Kia is making waves in the UK with their electric SUV, the EV3. The EV3 has quickly become the most popular retail EV in the UK, propelling Kia to the position of the third top-selling car brand in the country for the first half of 2025.

The success of the EV3 has been a significant factor in Kia’s record-breaking performance this year. The compact electric SUV has been flying off the shelves since its launch, becoming the best-selling retail EV in the UK and the fourth best-selling EV overall in the first quarter of the year.

With 6,293 registrations in the first half of the year, the Kia EV3 has maintained its position as the UK’s most popular EV. Starting at £33,005 ($42,500), the EV3 is Kia’s most affordable EV yet. It comes with two battery pack options, offering a WLTP range of up to 430 km (270 miles) and 599 km (375 miles) respectively.

In the first half of 2025, Kia sold a total of 31,643 electrified vehicles, including EVs, plug-in hybrids, and hybrids. This accounted for over half of Kia’s total registrations of 62,005 vehicles.

Looking ahead, Kia has opened orders for the EV4, their first electric hatchback with a WLTP range of up to 388 miles. This new addition to the lineup is expected to drive even more demand for Kia’s electric vehicles throughout the year.

In the pipeline for next year is the entry-level EV2, which will slot in below the EV3 in Kia’s lineup. Kia is also hinting at an even more affordable EV that will start at under $30,000 (€25,000) and is expected to be introduced closer to the end of the decade.

Kia’s commitment to expanding their electric vehicle lineup and offering more affordable options is positioning them as a key player in the rapidly growing EV market. With the success of the EV3 and the anticipation surrounding the EV4, Kia is well on its way to solidifying its position as a leader in the electric vehicle space.
