The new Jaecoo 5, set to rival the Range Rover Evoque, is gearing up for its release this year, starting with a petrol-powered variant. Unveiled at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, this crossover is the latest addition to Jaecoo’s UK lineup, following the success of its larger sibling, the Jaecoo 7.

Built on the T1X platform, shared with Omoda’s lineup, including the 5, 7, 9, and the recently revealed 3, the Jaecoo 5 promises to deliver a blend of style and performance. Unlike its competitors, the Jaecoo 5 will initially launch with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, offering 187bhp and 203lb ft of torque, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

While the petrol variant takes the spotlight first, an electric version is in the pipeline, featuring similar specifications to the Omoda E5 – 201bhp, a 61kWh battery, and an impressive range of 257 miles. Visually, the Jaecoo 5 bears a striking resemblance to the Jaecoo 7, with a compact size, shorter wheelbase, and a sleeker roofline.

Inside, the Jaecoo 5 boasts a smaller infotainment screen compared to the Jaecoo 7, along with a dashboard-mounted driver’s display. Available in two trim levels – Pure and Luxury, the entry-level model comes equipped with a six-speaker audio system, adjustable seats, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Luxury trim adds premium features like a panoramic roof, wireless charging, and heated and ventilated front seats.

Overall, the Jaecoo 5 combines style, performance, and technology, making it a compelling option in the competitive crossover segment. Stay tuned for its official release and experience the blend of luxury and innovation that Jaecoo has to offer.
