Maserati Grecale and Granturismo EVs to gain range boost this year

Maserati is set to introduce extended-range versions of its electric Grecale crossover and Granturismo sports car later this year, showcasing the brand’s commitment to enhancing its EV lineup. Following the launch of its first electric cars in 2024, Maserati has opted to focus on improving its existing EV models rather than rushing to release new ones.

Originally planning to unveil an electric Quattroporte this year, Maserati has decided to postpone the launch to prioritize the enhancement of its current electric vehicles. Speaking at the debut of the MCPura, which replaces the V6-powered MC20 supercar, Maserati’s engineering chief, Davide Danesin, emphasized the need to invest in refining their electric offerings amidst a sluggish demand for premium electric vehicles.

Danesin revealed that Maserati will introduce extended-range versions of the Grecale Folgore and Granturismo Folgore, providing additional kilometers of range to cater to evolving consumer needs. While specifics regarding these extended-range EVs have not been disclosed, the Grecale Folgore currently features a 105kWh battery pack with a range of 311 miles, and the electric Granturismo boasts an 83kWh battery with a range of 280 miles.

The Italian automaker is expected to enhance the battery capacity or optimize efficiency to improve the range of these models. Danesin emphasized Maserati’s commitment to staying abreast of technological advancements and refining their electric vehicles to remain competitive in the market.

Continuously updating their electric cars to incorporate the latest technologies and enhance performance, Maserati aims to maintain its position as a leader in the electric vehicle segment. With a focus on innovation and improvement, the brand is dedicated to evolving its EV lineup to meet the changing demands of consumers and stay ahead of the competition.
