XPENG AEROHT Secures $250 Million in Series B Financing for Flying Car Development

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 15, XPENG AEROHT, the flying car affiliate of XPENG, announced the completion of its $250 million worth of Series B financing. The fresh capital will support the company’s efforts to advance the R&D, mass production, and commercialization of its flying car products.

A key part of XPENG’s ecosystem, XPENG AEROHT aims to become a global leader in low-altitude mobility. With a mission to “make flying more accessible,” the company focuses on independently developing core technologies to build safe and intelligent flying vehicles. Its products are designed to serve a range of use cases, including personal air travel, urban air mobility, and public services, contributing to the transformation of low-altitude transportation.

This latest funding follows a $150 million Series B1 round in August 2024, led by three state-owned investors in Guangzhou. Earlier, XPENG invested in XPENG AEROHT in July 2020. The company later secured over $500 million in its Series A round in October 2021—the largest single financing deal in Asia’s manned low-altitude aviation sector at the time—followed by additional funding from Rockets Capital in June 2022.

To date, XPENG AEROHT has raised over $750 million (5.375 billion yuan).

Backed by strong financial support, XPENG has built out a full-stack in-house R&D capability for its flying cars, covering key areas such as powertrain systems, composite materials, flight control, navigation, and aerial intelligence.

On September 3, 2024, XPENG AEROHT officially launched the world’s first production-ready modular flying car “Land Aircraft Carrier”. Unlike typical eVTOL products, this vehicle targets individual consumers and can be driven with a standard Chinese C1 or C2 driver’s license.

The Land Aircraft Carrier adopts a distinctive tri-axle, six-wheel layout, measuring 5.5 meters in length and 2 meters in both width and height. It features a four-seat configuration and is powered by the world’s first 800V silicon carbide range-extended platform, delivering over 1,000 km of CLTC range. A 6×6 all-wheel-drive system with rear-wheel steering enhances both off-road capability and load capacity. The aircraft module, stored in the rear compartment, supports fast charging (from 30% to 80% in 18 minutes) and can perform 5–6 flights on a full charge and fuel tank. The two-seat flight pod is equipped with a quad-rotor setup and offers one-touch takeoff and landing with autonomous navigation, requiring just five minutes for users to learn basic operations.

The model has also made headway in regulatory approval. On March 21, 2024, its flight body (code-named X3-F) received formal acceptance of its Type Certificate (TC) application from the Civil Aviation Administration of China’s Central and Southern Regional Administration. Later, on May 9, 2025, the application for a Production Certificate (PC) was also accepted, signaling the start of regulatory review for mass production readiness.

According to XPENG AEROHT, mass production of the Land Aircraft Carrier is now being fast-tracked, with deliveries expected to begin in 2026. The company’s dedicated flying car production facility has already topped out and is undergoing equipment commissioning, with completion scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Looking ahead, XPENG AEROHT will implement a three-phase strategy: first, targeting off-road flying scenarios; second, enabling inter-city air mobility; and finally, pursuing the vision of “free flying for all.”
