Nio files to add two-tone paint and new wheels to ET9 to highlight its premium status

Nio has recently made some exciting updates to its executive flagship sedan, the ET9, in order to enhance its premium appeal. The company has filed to introduce two-tone body paint, additional premium wheel designs, and new rear badges for the ET9, aiming to attract a broader audience of affluent consumers.

The new body color combinations and premium wheel options are reminiscent of luxury Maybach models, particularly the Maybach GLS and Maybach S-Class. These enhancements are intended to elevate the ET9’s status in the competitive luxury executive sedan market, where Chinese automakers often struggle to compete with established luxury brands.

Interestingly, Maextro, a new automotive brand developed by Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), also adopted a similar two-tone body paint and wheel design for its S800 luxury sedan. This trend towards premium aesthetic enhancements reflects a growing demand for luxury features among Chinese consumers.

The ET9, which was officially launched at Nio Day 2024, has been a hit among consumers, with initial limited-edition models selling out quickly. The sedan is currently available in standard and signature editions, with prices starting at RMB 788,000. Nio has also hinted at a potential Horizon variant with new rear badges for the ET9.

Incorporating Nio’s latest technologies, such as the Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip and SkyRide chassis, the ET9 offers a cutting-edge driving experience. Since its official deliveries began in March, the ET9 has garnered attention from prominent entrepreneurs, including Paul Fang, Robin Zeng, He Xiaopeng, Richard Liu, and Holger Klein, who have all become owners or placed orders for the model.

In June, the ET9 delivered 307 units, bringing the total deliveries to 1,888 units. This marks a significant milestone for the ET9, surpassing the monthly deliveries of the ES6 SUV for the first time since the ET5 Touring began deliveries in June 2023.

With its sleek design, advanced technology, and luxurious updates, the Nio ET9 continues to impress consumers and solidify its position as a top contender in the luxury sedan market. As Nio expands its offerings and enhances the ET9’s premium status, the company is poised to attract even more discerning customers looking for a blend of style and performance in their next vehicle.
