Subaru Introduces E-Outback: The High-Riding EV Estate Car

Subaru has officially announced that its newest electric vehicle, the E-Outback, will be making its debut in the UK. This high-riding EV estate car is set to position itself as an electric alternative to Subaru’s well-known SUV-wagon models.

Originally unveiled as the Trailseeker in the US earlier this year, the E-Outback is a significant milestone for Subaru as it marks the brand’s first electric car developed entirely in-house. Boasting four-wheel drive capabilities and an impressive 8.3 inches of ground clearance, the E-Outback shares the same platform as the Solterra electric SUV.

The E-Outback is scheduled to launch first in the USA in early 2026 before making its way to European markets next year. It will join Subaru’s expanding EV lineup, alongside the redesigned 2026 Solterra and the newly unveiled Uncharted crossover.

Powered by a pair of 201bhp motors, one for each axle, the E-Outback delivers a maximum system output of 375bhp, allowing for a quick 0-60mph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds. With a 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery, the E-Outback is estimated to achieve a maximum range of 279 miles and supports fast charging up to 150kW for quick refueling.

In terms of practicality, the E-Outback offers ample cargo space, comparable to the Outback model. Inside, drivers will find a spacious cabin equipped with a large 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and a high-set digital instrument panel, providing a modern and user-friendly experience.

While pricing details have yet to be released, the E-Outback is expected to be positioned above the Solterra in Subaru’s electric vehicle lineup. Deliveries are set to begin early next year in the US, with the UK and other European markets following closely behind.

Subaru’s commitment to electrification is further emphasized by the introduction of two additional EV models later this year, with one of them slated for release in Europe. Stay tuned for more updates on Subaru’s electrifying journey towards a sustainable future.
