Wuling Unveils Cortez DARION MPV in Indonesia

Wuling, a Chinese automaker, made a significant announcement at the GIIAS 2025 event in Shanghai on July 23. They introduced the Cortez DARION, a new MPV model developed on a dedicated architecture for new energy vehicles (NEVs). This model features Wuling’s signature “Tian-Ling-Shen” suite of smart technologies, highlighting the brand’s commitment to innovation and cutting-edge features.

The Cortez DARION is specifically designed for the Indonesian market, with a name inspired by local slang meaning “a gift from Indonesia.” This emphasizes Wuling’s dedication to localization and understanding the unique needs of Indonesian consumers.

The debut of the Cortez DARION marks a global premiere, showcasing over a dozen market-specific upgrades tailored to Indonesian driving habits and infrastructure conditions. This MPV is designed as a versatile family vehicle, combining intelligent systems with practical configurations to maximize comfort and usability in daily Indonesian life.

Wuling’s focus on Indonesia is evident in their global strategy, with milestones such as celebrating the production of their 3 millionth NEV and 40,000th NEV in Indonesia. The brand’s commitment to Southeast Asia is reinforced with the launch of the MitraEV and refreshed BinguoEV models, signaling a broader brand and product refresh.

As part of their renewal campaign, Wuling Indonesia plans to revamp 50 core retail locations across key cities, enhancing brand presentation and customer touchpoints. They are also exploring new retail formats and collaborations to expand their distribution network and digital presence.

In terms of product offerings, Wuling is strengthening its presence in the MPV segment and entering the commercial vehicle market. The Cortez DARION, available in a dual powertrain configuration, is expected to appeal to both family and fleet buyers. To support this, Wuling is establishing dedicated commercial vehicle sales and financing teams to provide customized financial solutions for corporate fleet buyers and logistics operators.
