Stellantis warns of big import tariffs impact on earnings

Stellantis, a leading automotive company, is feeling the impact of US tariffs on imported vehicles and parts. The company projects that these tariffs will result in a decrease of around €1.5 billion in earnings for the year, with the majority of the impact expected in the second half. To mitigate these tariffs, Stellantis is adjusting its production strategies.

The repercussions of import tariffs were evident in the second quarter, contributing to a 25% decline in Stellantis’ North American sales. In the first half of 2025, the company reported a net revenue of €74.3 billion, a 13% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. This decline was primarily driven by regions in North America and Europe, resulting in a net loss of €2.3 billion.

Volkswagen Group is also facing profitability challenges due to the impact of tariffs on its international shipments. Stellantis saw a 7% decrease in sales, with consolidated shipments totaling 2.7 million units in the first half of the year.

Antonio Filosa, the recently appointed CEO of Stellantis, acknowledged the difficulties faced in 2025 but expressed optimism for gradual improvement. The company’s new leadership team is committed to making tough decisions to drive profitable growth and improve results significantly.

Stellantis implemented commercial recovery actions by launching four new models in the first half of the year and plans to introduce 10 new models in 2025. These include the Jeep Compass, Citroën C5 Aircross, and DS No8 in the second half of the year. The company aims to strengthen its product lineup and drive growth in the automotive market.
