The highly anticipated Onvo L90 launch event is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 pm Beijing time on July 31, as announced by the Nio sub-brand. Following the event, customers will have the opportunity to place locked-in orders for the L90.

Onvo initiated pre-sales for the L90 on July 10, with deliveries slated to commence on August 1. This marks the brand’s second model after the L60, demonstrating its commitment to expanding its product lineup.

The L90 comes with a starting price of RMB 279,900 ($39,000), inclusive of an 85-kWh battery pack. Alternatively, customers can opt for the BaaS (battery as a service) battery rental plan, which offers a lower starting price of RMB 193,900.

Moreover, the L90 is expected to see a price reduction upon its official launch, a common trend in China’s EV industry. The SUV will be available in both six-seat and seven-seat configurations, with the six-seat version being the initial offering.

Excitingly, Onvo plans to introduce another model, the L80, in the fourth quarter. According to regulatory filings, the L80 will be a five-seat version of the L90, catering to a wider range of customer preferences.

In preparation for the L90 production, Onvo has already dispatched numerous vehicles from its Hefei factory to stores. The brand has also allowed Chinese customers to test drive the L90 starting from July 23, with nearly 600 vehicles available for test drives at over 400 showrooms across 140 cities.

The pre-sales of the L90 have generated significant optimism among investors, with Nio’s shares trading on the US stock market witnessing a notable increase of around 40 percent since the commencement of SUV pre-sales.
