The e-bike industry is always evolving, and the latest player to enter the market is none other than drone giant DJI. Through its subsidiary, Amflow, DJI has launched its first e-bikes in the US market, the Amflow PL Carbon and Amflow PL Carbon Pro, and they are making quite a statement.

These new models are full-suspension, high-performance electric mountain bikes that boast a lightweight and tech-heavy design. At the core of both bikes is DJI’s own Avinox drive system, a mid-drive motor platform that rivals the likes of Bosch, Shimano, and Brose. With 105 Nm of torque and up to 850 watts of peak power in a compact 5.5 lb unit, these bikes pack quite a punch while weighing just 42.3 lbs in their lightest configuration.

The Avinox drive system is complemented by a smart 2-inch color OLED touchscreen display that shows speed and ride data. Bluetooth connectivity allows riders to customize their settings through the Avinox app. The bikes also feature a large 800Wh battery paired with a powerful 500W fast charger that can charge the battery from 0 to 75% in just 90 minutes.

Built on a carbon fiber frame, the Amflow PL Carbon and Pro models offer 160 mm of front travel and 150 mm of rear travel, making them versatile for all-mountain or enduro-style riding. Suspension duties are handled by Fox, and the bikes feature mullet wheels – 29” in the front and 27.5” in the back – for optimal agility and performance.

While DJI is showcasing the Avinox motor system through its Amflow brand, they are also positioning it as a standalone product for other OEMs in the future. With a sleek design, low weight, and integration of DJI’s tech expertise, these bikes are definitely turning heads in the e-bike world.

With a starting price of $7,499 for the base model and over $10,000 for the top-end model, these bikes are not cheap. However, DJI’s entry into the e-bike motor market with the Avinox drive system could shake up the industry and challenge established motor companies. It will be interesting to see how other bike makers adopt DJI’s drive system in the future.

In conclusion, the Amflow PL Carbon and PL Carbon Pro are making a bold entrance into the e-bike market. With DJI’s reputation for precision and tech innovation, these bikes are sure to make a lasting impression. Welcome to the e-bike party, DJI.
