Zero begins deliveries of its new low-cost electric motorcycles

Zero Motorcycles has officially begun deliveries of its highly anticipated X Line models, marking a major milestone for the company’s push into more affordable off-road and adventure electric vehicles (EVs). The first wave of customers is now taking delivery of their new Zero XE and Zero XB electric motorcycles.

“The delivery of the first X Line bikes is a major milestone for Zero and for the future of off-road EV performance,” said Zero CEO Sam Paschel. “It’s the start of a new chapter in how adventure riding is experienced. With the XB and XE, we’re making electric motorcycles more accessible and approachable for riders everywhere.”

The X Line, which was first unveiled late last year, consists of two models – the XE and XB, designed for adventure and trail riders. Developed in partnership with Chinese company Zongshen, these bikes offer a gateway to electric two-wheeled adventure with lightweight frames, swappable battery packs, and ample power for off-road excursions. The smaller Zero XB starts at just $4,395 in the U.S., while the larger Zero XE comes in at $6,495, making them the most affordable models Zero has ever produced.

This shift towards more affordable electric motorcycles represents a strategic move for Zero, as the company aims to broaden its rider base beyond urban commuters and high-end sport bike enthusiasts. With a growing interest in electric motorcycles, especially among younger and off-road focused customers, the XE and XB models could attract a new segment of riders to the EV moto world.

Deliveries of the X Line models have already begun and will continue over the coming months. Customers who place new reservations can expect deliveries to start in Fall 2025. This launch marks a significant moment for Zero, as the company ventures into the more affordable end of the market with purpose-built off-road machines.

The X Line models have the potential to carve out a new corner of the market for Zero, offering affordable and capable electric trail bikes that appeal to a wider range of riders. With decent range, real off-road capabilities, and swappable batteries, these bikes could attract customers who have been previously drawn to DIY conversions or budget Asian imports.

If Zero can maintain smooth deliveries and ensure high quality, the X Line could be the company’s most important launch yet. The demand for affordable and capable electric trail bikes is evident, and now Zero just needs to homologate them for the US market. This move signifies a new chapter for Zero Motorcycles as they make electric two-wheeled adventure more accessible to riders everywhere.
