Xpeng, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently made a significant stride in the industry with the regulatory filing for the extended-range version of its X9 MPV. This new model, the X9 EREV, is set to hit the market in the fourth quarter of this year, marking Xpeng’s first foray into the hybrid vehicle segment.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China released a list of approved vehicles for public comment, including the Xpeng X9 EREV. This step in the regulatory process is crucial before a vehicle can be officially sold in the Chinese market.

The Xpeng X9 EREV boasts impressive dimensions, with a length of 5,316 mm, width of 1,988 mm, and height of 1,785 mm. It features a spacious 7-seat configuration and a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. The vehicle’s curb weight is reported to be 2,750 kilograms, with a maximum speed of 180 kilometers per hour.

Under the hood, the X9 EREV is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine from Harbin Dongan Auto Engine, providing a maximum power output of 110 kW. The vehicle also utilizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CALB, ensuring efficient power delivery and performance.

Xpeng’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, expressed his excitement for the upcoming launch of the X9 EREV. He highlighted the extensive testing process that the vehicle has undergone, with over 1,000 test vehicles deployed and testing lasting more than 800 days. The testing covered 20 countries, 330 cities, and accumulated over 20 million kilometers of mileage.

Mr. He emphasized Xpeng’s commitment to delivering a reliable, safe, and intelligent vehicle to global users. The company has simulated various extreme scenarios to ensure the X9 EREV’s performance and durability under challenging conditions.

The Xpeng X9 EREV is part of the company’s Kunpeng Super Electric System, offering a combined range of up to 1,400 kilometers and a battery range of up to 430 kilometers. This extended-range system aims to eliminate range anxiety for drivers, providing a seamless driving experience.

The X9 EREV is a significant addition to Xpeng’s lineup, building on the success of the all-electric X9 MPV launched in 2024. With plans to launch the X9 model in Europe later this year, Xpeng is poised to expand its presence in the global electric vehicle market.

Overall, the Xpeng X9 EREV represents a new chapter in the company’s evolution towards sustainable mobility solutions. With its innovative technology and commitment to quality, Xpeng continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology and set new standards in the industry.
