Zeekr, a leading electric vehicle (EV) maker, has recently unveiled its plans to update four of its popular models by the end of the year, along with the launch of two new models. This move comes as a strategic decision to prevent any negative feedback that may arise from sudden model updates, as seen in the past.
The updated models include the Zeekr X compact EV, which is set to receive a new version featuring the Golden Battery and interior adjustments. The Golden Battery, based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, was first introduced in December 2023 and has been well-received in the market. The Zeekr X will be updated in September or the fourth quarter of this year.
In addition to the Zeekr X, the company will also be updating the Zeekr 007 electric sedan, the Zeekr 001 shooting brake, and the Zeekr 7X SUV in the fourth quarter. The updated Zeekr 007 will see modifications to its interior and exterior details, while retaining its advanced driving assistance system, battery, and electric drive systems.
The Zeekr 001 will now be equipped with Nvidia’s Thor-U chip and will utilize a 900-volt high-voltage system, along with minor adjustments to its interior and exterior features. Similarly, the updated Zeekr 7X will also feature the Thor-U chip and a 900-volt high-voltage system on select variants, with slight modifications to its design elements.
Furthermore, Zeekr has announced limited-time benefits for its existing models, including 5-year interest-free financing for the Zeekr X, Zeekr 007, Zeekr 001, and Zeekr 7X during the product transition period. The company will also commence pre-sales of the Zeekr 9X, its first hybrid model, at the upcoming Chengdu auto show.
CEO Andy An has also revealed plans to launch the Zeekr 8X in the fourth quarter, although specific details about this model are currently scarce. Based on its name, the Zeekr 8X is expected to be a smaller, more affordable hybrid SUV compared to the Zeekr 9X.
In terms of performance, Zeekr Group, which encompasses the Zeekr and Lynk & Co brands, recorded a total delivery of 44,193 vehicles in July, representing a 2.75 percent increase from the previous month. The Zeekr brand saw a year-on-year growth of 8.44 percent with 16,977 vehicles delivered in July, while Lynk & Co delivered 27,216 vehicles, marking a 27.94 percent increase from the same period last year.
Overall, Zeekr’s strategic updates and upcoming launches reflect the company’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in the competitive EV market.
