Xpeng Shares Soar in Hong Kong as Extended-Range X9 Set for Q4 Launch

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) is making waves in the electric vehicle (EV) market once again as its shares surged in Hong Kong trading. The company’s stock price rose by 7.94 percent to HK$85.65, reaching a five-month high and marking a month-to-date gain of 19 percent.

Investor optimism is high following the announcement of the launch timeline for Xpeng’s first hybrid model, the X9 MPV extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). This new variant of the X9 is set to be officially launched in the fourth quarter, sparking excitement among shareholders and industry experts alike.

The X9 EREV recently entered China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s regulatory filing catalog, signaling its imminent arrival. Xpeng’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, took to Weibo to confirm the launch timeline and provide further details about the upcoming model.

According to Mr. He, the X9 EREV is a global model that has undergone extensive testing in 20 countries and 330 cities. With over 1,000 test vehicles and more than 800 days of testing, Xpeng is gearing up to introduce its first super hybrid model to the market.

The X9 EREV features a 1.5-liter engine from Harbin Dongan Auto Engine as a range extender, making it slightly longer than the all-electric X9 model. Xpeng aims to position the X9 EREV as a reliable 7-seat family car, with a potential battery range of 450 kilometers.

The introduction of the X9 EREV comes at a strategic time for Xpeng, as the company looks to expand its product lineup and cater to a broader range of consumers. The EREV variant of the X9 MPV is expected to appeal to customers looking for a hybrid model that offers both performance and efficiency.

With the Kunpeng Super Electric System, the X9 EREV will offer a combined range of up to 1,400 kilometers, alleviating range anxiety for drivers. This extended-range system is a testament to Xpeng’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the EV industry.

As Xpeng prepares for the mass production of the X9 EREV in the second half of this year, the company is poised to make a significant impact on the market. With a strong focus on technological advancement and customer satisfaction, Xpeng continues to solidify its position as a key player in the global EV market.
