Great Wall Motor (GWM) has recently unveiled the pre-sales for the updated Tank 500 SUV, receiving an overwhelming response with 7,289 pre-orders within just two hours of the commencement of pre-sales. This demonstrates the strong demand and popularity of this model among consumers.

The updated Tank 500 comes in two variants – the Tank 500 Hi4-T and the Tank 500 Hi4-Z. The former is designed for off-road performance, while the latter is more suitable for family use. Both variants are priced at RMB 360,000 ($50,080) and RMB 388,800, respectively.

Measuring 5,078 mm in length, 1,934 mm in width, and 1,905 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, the updated Tank 500 retains the same dimensions as its predecessor. It is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.0-liter engine with a maximum power output of 180 kW (245 horsepower) and electric motors.

The Tank 500 Hi4-T is powered by a single motor with a maximum power output of 120 kW and a 37.1 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTC battery range of 110 kilometers. On the other hand, the Tank 500 Hi4-Z features dual motors with a combined power output of 455 kW and a 59.05 kWh battery pack, providing a WLTC battery range of 201 kilometers.

One of the standout features of the updated Tank 500 is the inclusion of ATX LiDAR from Hesai Group and GWM’s third-generation driver assistance system, Coffee Pilot Ultra. This advanced system comprises sensors such as a 128-channel LiDAR, three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 11 high-definition cameras. The smart driving chip, Nvidia Orin-X, enables features like HD map-free full-scenario NOA, memory parking, and automatic parking.

In terms of sales performance, the Tank brand sold 20,020 vehicles in July, contributing significantly to GWM’s overall monthly sales. Despite facing challenges, the Tank brand managed to sell 123,680 vehicles in the first seven months of the year, showcasing its resilience and popularity in the market.

Overall, the updated Tank 500 SUV offers a compelling blend of performance, technology, and versatility, making it a highly sought-after model among consumers. With its impressive pre-sales figures and advanced features, the Tank 500 is set to make a significant impact in the SUV market.
