Jaecoo E5 Electric SUV: A New Competitor in the UK Market

Chinese brand Jaecoo has officially announced that the UK deliveries of its latest offering, the E5 electric SUV, will kick off in October. With a starting price of £27,505, the E5 is set to rival popular models such as the Peugeot e-2008, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Kia EV3.

One of the standout features of the E5 is its impressive range of 248 miles on a single charge, thanks to its 61.1kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack. The SUV can be rapidly recharged at up to 80kW on a DC connection, allowing for a 30-80% refill in just 27 minutes. Additionally, the E5 boasts vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, enabling the car’s battery to power external devices.

Under the hood, the E5 is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor producing 204bhp and 212lb ft of torque, propelling it from 0-62mph in a brisk 7.7 seconds.

Visually, the E5 sets itself apart from its petrol-powered counterpart, the Jaecoo 5, with its sleek design featuring flat panels replacing traditional front grilles, enhancing aerodynamic performance.

Inside, the E5 is equipped with a 13.2-inch portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring. The SUV offers seating for five passengers and boasts a spacious boot capacity of 480 litres, expandable to 1180 litres with the rear seats folded down.

Buyers can choose between two trim levels: Pure and Luxury. The Pure trim, priced £3000 higher than its petrol variant, includes a six-speaker Sony sound system and manually adjustable front seats. On the other hand, the Luxury trim, starting from £30,505, upgrades to an eight-speaker Sony system, a panoramic sunroof, and heated and ventilated front seats with electric adjustment.

As a testament to its quality and reliability, the E5 comes with a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, providing peace of mind to owners.

With its competitive pricing, impressive features, and stylish design, the Jaecoo E5 is poised to make a mark in the electric SUV segment in the UK market.
