Xpeng’s new P7 will still feature its signature scissor doors

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has unveiled new details about the next-generation P7 electric sedan, confirming that it will feature a variant with scissor doors. This unique option was previously available on the first-generation P7 and will continue to be offered in the upcoming model.

The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer made the announcement on Weibo, showcasing the variant with scissor doors in a special matte silver finish. This exclusive version of the P7 will come with a range of premium features designed to enhance the luxury sports experience for drivers.

Among the distinctive features of this variant are sport seats, a gray interior, step plates, 21-inch forged wheels, carbon fiber trim panels, and carbon fiber rearview mirrors. These elements combine to create a more pure and extreme aesthetic for the next-generation P7.

The original P7 made its debut at the Shanghai auto show in 2019 and was officially launched in 2020, with deliveries commencing later that year. Xpeng later introduced the P7 Wing Edition, a flagship variant of the model tailored for enthusiasts, featuring stylish scissor doors in the front.

The upcoming P7 is set to continue the legacy of scissor doors in the Xpeng lineup, as it remains the only model from the brand to offer this unique feature. The company recently started pre-sales of the new P7, with an official launch expected later this month.

While Xpeng has not revealed the pre-sales pricing for the next-generation P7, the company has indicated that it aims to position the model around RMB 300,000 ($41,840). However, considering the pricing of the current P7+ model, which starts at RMB 186,800, it is unlikely that the new P7 will exceed the RMB 300,000 mark.

In terms of performance and technology, the new P7 will be equipped with three Xpeng-developed Turing AI driving chips, boasting an impressive computing power of 2,250 TOPS. This makes it one of the most advanced electric vehicles in terms of smart driving capabilities.

The introduction of the next-generation P7 is expected to further enhance Xpeng’s brand appeal, particularly in the electric sedan segment. The company’s best-selling model, the Mona M03, has been delivering strong sales numbers, with over 15,000 units sold in July alone.

With the new P7 set to hit the market soon, Xpeng is poised to continue its growth trajectory and solidify its position in the competitive electric vehicle market. Stay tuned for more updates on the official launch and pricing details of the next-generation P7 from Xpeng.
