Acura is making a comeback with a fresh take on the RSX, this time in the form of a sporty electric SUV. This new model is a significant departure from its predecessor, and it’s making waves as the first electric vehicle to be built on Honda’s new Zero global EV platform.
As Honda’s electric vehicle lineup is relatively limited, especially in North America, with only the Prologue and Accura ZDX available, the introduction of the Acura RSX concept marks a new chapter in the company’s electrification efforts. This new platform is set to pave the way for a series of new EVs from Honda, aiming to streamline its electric vehicle offerings globally.
The Acura RSX concept, unveiled by Acura, gives us a glimpse of what to expect from the production model set to roll out of Honda’s new EV hub in Ohio in the second half of 2026. Despite sharing its name with the Integra in some markets, the RSX concept is a whole new breed of vehicle, boasting a sleek and aggressive design that sets it apart from the crowd.
Lance Woelfer, vice president of Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co, expressed his excitement about the RSX concept, highlighting its blend of Acura’s Precision Crafted Performance DNA with cutting-edge technology. This sentiment is echoed by Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura Creative Director and vice president of American Honda R&D, who emphasized the focus on aerodynamic performance in the design of the RSX.
While specific details about the RSX are still under wraps, Acura has confirmed that it will feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain, sport-tuned suspension, low center-of-gravity, and Brembo brakes as standard. Additionally, the RSX will come equipped with top-of-class driver assistive technologies and Honda’s new ASIMO operating system, offering a personalized driving experience with machine learning capabilities.
One standout feature of the RSX is its bi-directional charging capability, allowing it to power devices from the vehicle (V2X) and even provide backup power to your home (V2H). This innovative technology sets the RSX apart in the electric vehicle market and showcases Acura’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric mobility.
If you’re eager to get a closer look at the Acura RSX prototype, it will be on display at Pebble Beach this week. Stay tuned for more updates as we delve deeper into this exciting new addition to Acura’s lineup.
