Wuling launches updated Starlight S SUV with starting price of $13,900

SAIC-GM-Wuling has officially unveiled the 2025 Wuling Starlight S, a budget-friendly new energy SUV model designed for the Chinese market. This updated vehicle comes in both plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) options, with the BEV variant boasting an impressive range of up to 510 kilometers on a single charge.

The Wuling Starlight S offers customers four PHEV variants, with prices starting at RMB 99,800 ($13,900) and going up to RMB 129,800. Additionally, there are two BEV variants available, starting at RMB 119,800. To sweeten the deal for early buyers, Wuling is currently offering a discount package that includes a RMB 10,000 trade-in subsidy and up to RMB 5,000 in financing subsidies.

Measuring in at 4,745 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm, the Wuling Starlight S is a spacious and functional SUV. The BEV variants are equipped with a front motor that delivers a maximum power of 150 kW (204 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 310 Nm, allowing for a top speed of 175 kilometers per hour. These models feature a 60-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that provides an impressive CLTC range of 510 kilometers.

On the other hand, the updated Wuling Starlight S PHEV comes with a standard 1.5 L engine that generates a maximum power of 78 kW and a maximum torque of 130 Nm. The hybrid variants also feature an electric motor with a maximum power of 150 kW and a maximum torque of 310 Nm, supporting a top speed of 170 km/h. These models are equipped with LFP batteries ranging from 9.5 kWh to 20.5 kWh, offering CLTC pure electric ranges of 60 kilometers to 130 kilometers. When fully fueled and charged, the hybrid variants can achieve a combined range of over 1,100 kilometers.

With a starting price of RMB 44,800 ($6,180) and a CLTC range of 205 km, the four-door Mini EV is another attractive option for environmentally-conscious consumers looking for a compact and efficient vehicle.
