Can-Am unveils new electric ATV that out-performs gasoline ATVs

BRP, the Canadian powersports giant known for brands like Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo, and Can-Am, has just unveiled its latest addition to its electric lineup: the 2026 Can-Am Outlander Electric ATV. This electric ATV boasts impressive specs that surpass its gasoline-powered counterparts in nearly every aspect.

The Outlander Electric is not just a side project for BRP; it represents a significant push into the electric powersports market. Built on BRP’s Rotax E-Power drivetrain, the same platform used in its electric motorcycles and snowmobiles, this ATV is a true ground-up electrification effort.

Equipped with an electric motor delivering 47 hp and 53 lb-ft of torque, the Outlander Electric offers selectable ride modes for various applications, from recreational riding to heavy-duty work. With a towing capacity of 1,830 lbs, this ATV is a true workhorse, outperforming top gasoline-powered models on the market.

The 8.9 kWh battery provides a range of up to 50 miles, with a fast charging capability that can bring the battery from 20 to 80% in just 50 minutes using a Level 2 charger. But the standout feature of the Outlander Electric is its whisper-quiet operation, making it ideal for tasks where noise pollution is a concern.

Priced at $1,299, the Can-Am Outlander Electric ATV is now available for purchase. According to Julie Tourville, Director of Global Marketing for Can-Am Off-Road at BRP, the Outlander Electric represents a new way to experience the outdoors and get work done, blending power, quietness, and innovation.

As electric ATVs are still relatively rare in the market, BRP’s move to expand its electric lineup is a significant step. The advantages of electric drivetrains, such as reduced noise, maintenance, and environmental impact, make them a compelling choice for users in noise-sensitive or emission-sensitive areas.

While the pricing of electric ATVs remains a concern, BRP’s commitment to electric powersports across its product range is commendable. With the Outlander Electric ATV, BRP is one step closer to completing its electric powersports lineup, offering consumers a clean and powerful alternative to traditional gasoline-powered models.

In conclusion, the Can-Am Outlander Electric ATV represents a major leap forward in the electric powersports market, providing users with a versatile, quiet, and efficient off-road vehicle. As the market for electric ATVs continues to grow, BRP’s dedication to electrification sets a promising path for the future of powersports.
