The production of the electric AUDI E5 Sportback has officially begun in China. This model is specifically designed for the Chinese market and is the first of a new intelligent electric family of models created under a partnership between Audi and SAIC, its Chinese partner. The AUDI brand, spelled in all capital letters without the traditional four rings logo, was introduced last year to signify a connection to and differentiation from the Audi brand.

Customers in China can now place preorders for the AUDI E5 Sportback, with delivery expected to start in September. Fermín Soneira, CEO of the China-dedicated AUDI brand, expressed excitement about the launch, highlighting the vehicle’s iconic design, premium quality, and cutting-edge technology tailored to Chinese customers. This marks the beginning of a new era for intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs).

The production of AUDI models takes place at a dedicated facility in Anting, Shanghai, established by the partnership. The facility is equipped with modern technologies and a digitalized production management system to ensure high-quality production. The AUDI E5 Sportback, a fully electric fastback, offers power outputs of up to 579 kW and a maximum range of 770km. With four distinct powertrains and dynamic driving features, the car promises an exhilarating driving experience.

Built on the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), the AUDI E5 Sportback offers next-generation connected vehicle functionality and over-the-air updates. Two additional AUDI models are scheduled for production at the facility within the next two years. The partnership aims to leverage China’s technological advancements and digital ecosystem to deliver innovative and high-quality vehicles to Chinese customers.
