Vauxhall reveals wild next-gen Corsa concept with 789bhp

Vauxhall has unveiled a new concept car that showcases the future direction of their GSE sub-brand. The concept, based on the Corsa model, features a redesigned ‘Vizor’ fascia with a transparent panel and illuminated griffin motif. According to Vauxhall’s design chief, Mark Adams, this new design element is being considered for production models as part of the brand’s philosophy to refresh and revive its core DNA.

The interior of the concept car is minimalist yet functional, with potential production elements such as split bucket seats that are lighter than those found in current EVs. The driver’s mental load is reduced with the absence of screens, replaced by a few physical buttons for key functions.

The Corsa concept pushes the boundaries of the GSE sub-brand even further, with a dual-motor powertrain delivering 789bhp and 590lb ft of torque. Weighing just 1170kg, the car is claimed to accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.0 seconds, faster than a Bugatti Chiron, with a top speed of 199mph. While these performance figures are currently limited to the Gran Turismo video game, Adams believes they are realistic and could potentially make it to a production model.

In July, Vauxhall reintroduced the GSE sub-brand with the 276bhp Mokka GSE, but the Corsa concept sets a new benchmark for performance-honed EVs. Adams believes that this concept car represents where Vauxhall wants to take the GSE sub-brand in the future, with innovative design elements and high-performance capabilities that could revolutionize the electric vehicle market.

Overall, the Vauxhall Corsa GSE concept showcases the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring new possibilities in the world of electric vehicles. With its futuristic design and impressive performance figures, this concept car sets a new standard for what can be achieved in the EV market.
