Volkswagen T-Roc R to Return in 2027 with Hybrid Power and Hot Hatch Performance
The highly anticipated Volkswagen T-Roc R is set to make a comeback in 2027, boasting hybrid power, hot hatch performance, and a bold design that sets it apart from the standard model.
During the unveiling of the second generation of the Golf-based crossover, VW CEO Thomas Schäfer confirmed the return of the performance variant, promising enthusiasts a “real powerful T-Roc R.”
This announcement marks a significant expansion of Volkswagen’s performance car lineup, following the retirement of the hottest versions of the Tiguan, Arteon, and Touareg models, leaving the Golf as the sole flagbearer of the R badge.
While specific details about the upcoming T-Roc R’s powertrain remain undisclosed, Volkswagen has confirmed that the entire T-Roc lineup will be electrified, hinting at a more sustainable and efficient performance offering.
The new T-Roc R is expected to be based on the range-topping mild hybrid model, featuring a 2.0-litre petrol engine and four-wheel drive, similar to its predecessor.
