BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has introduced the Sealion 07 EV in Europe at the ongoing Paris auto show, showcasing its commitment to the European market. The Sealion 07 EV, which will be known as the Sealion 7 in Europe, is set to be delivered to the first European customers by the end of this year.
The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer made its European debut at the Paris auto show in 2022 with three vehicle models. Just two years later, BYD has expanded its lineup to include eight models in Europe, according to Michael Shu, BYD’s European managing director.
The Sealion 7, part of BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo, is the first model in the Sealion lineup and offers a new all-electric mobility option for European consumers. The SUV is the upgraded version of the e-Platform 3.0 and was launched in China on May 10. With a starting price of RMB 189,800 ($26,670) in China, deliveries began in May.
In addition to the Sealion 07 EV, BYD also presented the U8 off-road SUV from its ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang and the BYD Seal at the Paris auto show. European audiences had the opportunity to experience other models such as the Dolphin, Yuan Plus (Atto 3 in Europe), and Song Plus DM-i (Seal U DM-i).
Over the past two years, BYD has expanded its presence in Europe, entering more than 20 countries and regions with a wide range of models including hatchbacks, sedans, and SUVs. Currently, BYD’s NEVs are available in 95 countries and regions worldwide.
In September, BYD reported sales of 419,426 NEVs, marking a 45.91 percent year-on-year increase and a 12.42 percent increase from August. The company sold 33,012 NEVs in overseas markets in September, up 17.74 percent year-on-year and 4.96 percent from August.
As BYD continues to expand its global presence and introduce innovative electric vehicles, the launch of the Sealion 07 EV in Europe represents another milestone in the company’s efforts to lead the transition to sustainable transportation.
