Nio’s highly anticipated executive flagship sedan, the ET9, is making waves as it enters a crucial regulatory filing process, signaling that deliveries are on track to begin in the first quarter of 2025. This latest development comes as a culmination of Nio’s efforts to bring the ET9 to market, positioning it as a formidable contender in the luxury executive sedan segment.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently released a catalog of approved models for public comment, with the Nio ET9 securing its spot on the list. This step marks a significant milestone in the regulatory journey of the ET9, paving the way for its official launch in the near future.
The ET9, designated with the product model number NAL7003BSEVD1, is set to be manufactured at Nio’s state-of-the-art F2 plant in NeoPark, Hefei, Anhui province. Boasting impressive dimensions, the 4-seater sedan measures 5,325 mm in length, 2,017 mm in width, and 1,621 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm. Weighing in at 2,700 kilograms, the ET9 is capable of reaching a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour.
Under the hood, the ET9 is powered by dual electric motors sourced from Nio’s electric motor division XPT in Xinqiao, Hefei. With a front motor delivering peak power of 180 kW and a rear motor packing 340 kW of peak power, the ET9 promises a thrilling driving experience. Additionally, the model supports battery swap technology, with the battery supplier listed in the filing catalog as CATL.
Nio unveiled the ET9 at Nio Day in December 2023, opening pre-orders for the luxury sedan in a bid to challenge established foreign brands in the segment. Priced at RMB 800,000 ($112,420), the ET9 is set to hit the roads in the first quarter of 2025.
One of the standout features of the ET9 is the SkyRide intelligent chassis system, touted as the world’s first integrated hydraulic fully active suspension system. This innovation allows for dynamic adjustment of stiffness, damping, and height, enhancing both comfort and performance.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the ET9 will be the first vehicle to house Nio’s own 5 nm process-based Shenji autonomous driving chip. Furthermore, the sedan will run on a 925 V ultra-high voltage platform and utilize Nio’s proprietary 46105 large cylindrical battery cells for improved energy efficiency and rapid charging capabilities.
With a battery capacity of 120 kWh and a single cell energy density of 292 Wh/kg, the ET9 supports 5C fast charging, providing 255 kilometers of range on a five-minute charge at Nio’s latest 640 kWh charging post.
As Nio continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle innovation, the ET9 stands out as a symbol of the company’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology and performance in the luxury sedan market. Stay tuned for more updates as the ET9 gears up for its official launch in 2025.
