Xpeng starts P7+ pre-sales with starting price 10% lower than Tesla Model 3

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has recently launched the pre-sales of its latest model, the P7+, in China at a starting price of RMB 209,800 ($29,610). This price point is notably lower than Tesla’s (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3, which starts at RMB 231,900 in China, marking a 9.53 percent difference in cost.

He Xiaopeng, the chairman and CEO of Xpeng, introduced the P7+ to European consumers at the Paris auto show in France. He announced the commencement of pre-sales in China, starting at the aforementioned price point. The company is known for potentially lowering prices further upon the official launch of new models.

Customers in China have the opportunity to reserve the P7+ by paying RMB 99, with a RMB 3,000 discount applicable when making the full payment for the vehicle.

The P7+ was unveiled at an event in Shenzhen on October 10, where it was described as the world’s first AI car. Xpeng plans to begin sales and deliveries of the P7+ in China in early November.

This new model, internally referred to as F57, is equipped with Xpeng’s Eagle Eye vision solution, powered by two Nvidia Orin X chips. The smart driving system will rely on a purely vision-based solution, similar to Tesla’s technology, rather than using LiDAR.

The P7+ is a mid to large-size electric sedan with dimensions of 5,056 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width, and 1,512 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. These measurements surpass those of the Xpeng P7i sedan, making it a larger and more spacious option.

Show cars of the P7+ are already available at Xpeng stores in 25 cities across China, with plans to have show cars in all stores by the end of the month.

Overall, Xpeng’s P7+ presents an attractive option for customers in the electric vehicle market, offering advanced AI technology, competitive pricing, and a spacious design. With pre-sales already underway, the model is set to make a significant impact in the EV industry.
