GAC INTERNATIONAL Names Thomas Schemera as Global Chief Operating Officer (COO)

At the Paris Motor Show 2024, GAC INTERNATIONAL made a significant announcement by welcoming Thomas Schemera as their new Global Chief Operating Officer (COO). With a wealth of experience in the automotive industry spanning over 30 years, Schemera is poised to play a crucial role in enhancing GAC’s presence in the European market and supporting the brand’s expansion on a global scale.

A native of Germany, Thomas Schemera brings a diverse skill set to his new role at GAC INTERNATIONAL. Having held key positions at renowned companies such as BMW and Hyundai, he has garnered accolades for his contributions to global marketing, brand development, and product strategy. In fact, Schemera was recognized as one of the “World’s Most Influential CMOs 2022” by Forbes and listed among the “50 most influential and determined marketers in Asia-Pacific 2022” by the Campaign Asia Power List.

During his tenure at BMW Group, Schemera held various leadership roles, including Vice President of BMW Sales and Dealer Development in Mainland & Greater China. His strategic initiatives led to a significant increase in BMW and BMW M sales, as well as the expansion of the dealer network, thereby enhancing the brand’s competitiveness and customer satisfaction.

In 2018, Schemera transitioned to Hyundai Motor Group as Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer, where he spearheaded global marketing campaigns for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands. His efforts were instrumental in the successful launch of the Hyundai N brand and the IONIQ electric vehicle sub-brand.

Expressing his excitement about joining GAC INTERNATIONAL, Schemera stated, “GAC Group is a highly innovative technology company with a comprehensive global strategy aimed at delivering the best mobility solutions to customers worldwide. I look forward to leveraging my industry knowledge and experience to contribute to GAC International’s growth and enhance digital experiences for global customers.”

General Manager Wei Haigang expressed confidence in Schemera’s leadership, emphasizing his expertise in brand building, technological innovation, strategic development, user experience, and human resource management.

With Thomas Schemera at the helm, GAC INTERNATIONAL is poised to evolve into a customer-centric mobility company that delivers exceptional experiences to consumers worldwide.
