Kia Corporation recently unveiled its latest offering, the Tasman pickup truck, at the Jeddah International Motor Show in Saudi Arabia. This launch signifies the South Korean automaker’s commitment to diversifying its product lineup and entering the competitive one-ton pickup truck segment. The Tasman is set to hit global markets in 2025, marking Hyundai Motor Group’s debut in this segment, which is currently dominated by Japanese brands like Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Isuzu, as well as Chinese manufacturers.

The Kia Tasman stands out with its bold and square body design, catering to both business and leisure users. It boasts advanced chassis and suspension technology, providing exceptional off-road capabilities while maintaining class-leading on-road refinement. The pickup truck is equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including trailer profile functionality.

Offered in three main variants, the Tasman lineup includes a basic four-door double cab model, as well as the double-cab X-Line and X-Pro AWD models. The latter features all-terrain tires and higher ground clearance for improved off-road performance. Customers can choose between a 2.5L 281PS turbocharged petrol engine paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox or a 2.2L 210PS diesel engine available with either an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox.

Kia’s president and CEO, Song Ho-sung, expressed excitement about the Tasman, stating, “The Kia Tasman offers world-first solutions for those seeking a lifestyle vehicle for leisure and outdoor activities while meeting the needs of small business operators, such as traders and farmers.”

The introduction of the Kia Tasman pickup truck represents a significant milestone for Hyundai Motor Group as it expands its presence in the competitive pickup truck market. With its innovative design, advanced technology, and versatile configurations, the Tasman is poised to make a mark in the global automotive industry.
