Xpeng’s G6 Electric SUV Making Waves in Singapore

Xpeng, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, has been making significant strides in the Singapore market with its G6 electric SUV. Just a month after deliveries began, the G6 is already matching Tesla’s monthly deliveries in the country, showcasing the strong reception it has received from consumers.

The G6 entered the Singapore market in late July and quickly gained popularity. In September, it ranked among the top 3 sellers of all-electric SUVs in the country, a remarkable achievement for the relatively new entrant.

Xpeng officially launched its presence in Singapore on July 25, opening a flash store at UOB Plaza in the central business district. The store allowed visitors to test drive the G6 and experience its features firsthand.

Deliveries of the G6 began in Singapore in late August, and within a month, the vehicle was already competing with Tesla’s monthly delivery numbers in the country. Xpeng’s success in Singapore led to the opening of a new showroom on November 2 at 281 Alexandra Road, offering a spacious and immersive experience for customers.

The G6, positioned as a competitor to Tesla’s Model Y, was initially launched in China in 2023 and has been well-received for its performance and design. In October, Xpeng reported record-high deliveries of 23,917 vehicles, marking a significant increase from the previous year.

The G6’s success in Singapore can be attributed to its attractive pricing and high-quality features. While the starting price in China is lower, the G6 is priced higher in Singapore due to additional costs associated with owning the vehicle. The G6 is currently available in two variants in Singapore, with prices starting at SGD 214,999 for the standard range version and SGD 228,999 for the long-range version after including the Certificate of Entitlement.

Xpeng’s commitment to the Singapore market is evident in its plans to introduce more models in the future. The company’s vice president, James Wu, expressed optimism about the brand’s growth potential in the country.

Overall, Xpeng’s G6 electric SUV has made a significant impact in Singapore, showcasing the brand’s innovation and commitment to sustainable transportation. As the EV market continues to grow, Xpeng is well-positioned to capitalize on the demand for electric vehicles in the region.
