BMW M5 Saloon and Touring review

The latest iteration of the BMW M5, known as the G90, has raised the bar in terms of performance and technology. The decision to place the battery pack in the floor has allowed for a lower center of gravity, resulting in a more balanced and agile driving experience. While the suspension has been slightly softened compared to its predecessor, the M5 still maintains its sporty edge with progressive steel coils and adaptive dampers from Bilstein.

M has not compromised on technology, equipping the M5 with variable-ratio steering, four-wheel steering, advanced traction and stability control systems, and a fully variable four-wheel drive that can switch to rear-wheel drive. Despite the fact that few owners utilize this feature, it speaks to the ethos of M – providing the capability even if it’s rarely used.

Visually, the new M5 is a testament to M design language, with wider front and rear wings, giving it a more aggressive stance. The option for a Touring estate version adds practicality without sacrificing performance, making it a versatile choice for those who need the extra space without compromising speed.

The Touring variant offers a larger boot space compared to the saloon, with a more convenient access point through the big hatch. While it may lack the unique separately opening rear window of previous models, the Touring model still impresses with its practicality and sleek design.

Overall, the BMW M5 G90 is a true representation of M’s commitment to performance and innovation. With its blend of cutting-edge technology and sleek design, it stands out as a top contender in the high-performance sedan market.
