Foton Motor Marks Milestone with Completion of Thailand Factory

Foton Motor, a leading Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer, achieved a significant milestone on November 27 with the inauguration of its Thailand factory. The event showcased the unveiling of an all-electric heavy-duty truck as it rolled off the production line at the newly completed facility. This momentous occasion also marked the production of the 1 millionth vehicle for Foton Motor’s overseas business, which includes exports and local production outside of China.

The Thailand factory, operated by CP FOTON, a joint venture between Foton Motor and CP Group established in 2019, aims to solidify Foton Motor’s position among the top three commercial vehicle brands in Thailand. Additionally, the facility will serve as a key manufacturing hub for the ASEAN region, further expanding Foton Motor’s global presence.

Spanning an impressive 37,000 square meters, the state-of-the-art facility produces a diverse range of commercial vehicles, including medium- and heavy-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, small trucks, and buses. Foton Motor stands out as one of the few Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturers to establish a truck plant in Thailand, showcasing its commitment to the region.

In alignment with Thailand’s environmental objectives and the growing trend towards vehicle electrification, Foton Motor plans to introduce a comprehensive lineup of new energy commercial vehicles at the facility. These innovative solutions will provide cleaner and more sustainable transportation options for Thailand and neighboring markets, supporting the country’s green initiatives.

Foton Motor has already established a robust industrial cluster in Thailand and has ambitious plans to expand into other key markets in the Asia-Pacific region, including Indonesia and Vietnam. Furthermore, the company’s global localization strategy includes ongoing projects such as the Brazil manufacturing initiative, slated to commence production in 2025.
