Best for: All-round ability

With the release of the new third-generation model, the Nissan Qashqai continues to prove why it has remained a popular choice in the compact SUV market. Despite not being a top choice for keen drivers, the Qashqai excels in its practicality, comfort, and cost-effectiveness.

The new Qashqai features a lighter chassis, more spacious dimensions, and improved dynamics, making it a strong contender in its class. The 1.3-litre mild-hybrid petrol and e-Power hybrid options may not offer blistering performance, but they deliver sufficient power for everyday driving needs.

One of the standout features of the Qashqai is its family-friendly design. Testers have praised its thoughtful layout, generous equipment levels, and affordable pricing. For those opting for an automatic transmission, the hybrid variant is recommended over the CVT petrol for a smoother driving experience.

While the interior design may not be as flashy as some competitors, the Qashqai impresses with its high-quality materials, solid construction, and user-friendly layout. The abundance of physical buttons adds to the ease of use, ensuring drivers can navigate the infotainment system with minimal distraction.

Early models of the Qashqai featured a functional yet slightly outdated multimedia system. However, newer trims introduced a more modern interface that retains the same user-friendly features while enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.

Although the Qashqai may not revolutionize the segment, it demonstrates Nissan’s deep understanding of its target audience. With its combination of practicality, affordability, and reliability, the Qashqai remains a top choice among non-premium compact SUVs.
