Huawei signs deal with Avatr to explore new partnership model

Avatr Technology, a prominent electric vehicle (EV) company with backing from Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei, has recently entered into a groundbreaking partnership agreement with Huawei. This new collaboration is set to introduce a unique partnership model that will revolutionize the way these two industry giants work together.

The agreement, signed at Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, signifies a deepening of the strategic cooperation between Avatr and Huawei. The partnership will focus on areas such as product development, marketing, and ecological services, aiming to support Avatr in creating the next generation of car models. This move marks a significant step forward from their initial strategic partnership established in January 2019.

The signing ceremony, attended by Zhu Huarong, the shared chairman of Changan and Avatr, and Eric Xu, Huawei’s rotating chairman, underlines the importance of this new phase in their collaboration. While specific details of the partnership were not disclosed, it is apparent that this marks a shift towards a more comprehensive involvement of Huawei in product development and marketing.

Huawei’s approach to working with car companies typically involves three models: launching a new brand with a car company, providing components and HarmonyOS system, or offering full-stack smart car solutions. Avatr and Huawei have been operating under the latter model since 2022, resulting in the successful launch of models like Avatr 11, Avatr 12, and Avatr 07.

The upcoming Avatr 06 sedan, set to be officially launched in the second quarter of next year, will be the first product under this new partnership model. This vehicle is expected to showcase Huawei’s influence in marketing efforts, representing a significant evolution in their collaboration.

Interestingly, the partnership between Avatr and Huawei is being referred to as an upgraded version of the HI model, termed HI Plus by industry insiders. This model differs from the HIMA model in that the vehicles will not be sold through Huawei’s channels, aligning with a new approach introduced by Huawei in its partnerships with car companies.

In conclusion, the partnership between Avatr and Huawei marks a significant milestone in the evolution of their collaboration. With a renewed focus on product development and marketing, this new partnership model is set to drive innovation and growth in the electric vehicle industry. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the coming months.
