SAIC MAXUS has recently unveiled the Star X pickup truck, featuring the latest SAIC π Plus engine. The lineup includes both gasoline and electric versions, with the gasoline models priced between 155,800 and 209,800 yuan, and the EV models ranging from 299,800 to 322,800 yuan.

The exterior design of the MAXUS Star X gasoline version showcases a bold and imposing look, with a wide grille dominating the front end. The large headlights seamlessly blend into the grille, enhancing the vehicle’s presence on the road.

Measuring 5500×2005×1860mm with a 3300mm wheelbase across all variants, the Star X mirrors the dimensions of the popular GWM PAO pickup in China. The consistent size across all models eliminates the need for long and short wheelbase options, offering a uniform footprint. An optional two-step tailgate adds convenience for loading and unloading cargo.

The EV version, known as the eTerron 9, is a pure electric four-wheel drive pickup truck built on the Star GST platform. It features a fully enclosed front end, a continuous headlight strip, and a spacious front trunk. The vehicle’s dimensions are 5500 (5630) / 2005 / 1860 (1874) mm with a 3300mm wheelbase.

Inside, the Star X boasts a minimalist design with dual 12.3-inch screens and the Tencent TAI 4.0 system, offering advanced in-vehicle technology. The interior features premium materials, including soft-touch surfaces and suede headlining on select models, elevating the cabin to a level comparable to luxury SUVs.

The cargo bed of the Star X measures 1561×1610/1510(with molded cargo box)x535mm, providing a 1200L capacity. The unique design allows for connecting the cargo bed to the passenger cabin, creating a spacious combined area of 2600mm×1600mm for versatile use.

Powering the Star X is the SAIC π Plus 2.5T diesel engine, delivering 165 kW of power and 520 Nm of torque. Paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, the engine offers a dynamic driving experience with excellent low-end torque and reduced noise levels.

The four-wheel drive system includes all-terrain mode, front and rear differential locks, and off-road expert mode for impressive off-road performance. The suspension options include a double-wishbone front suspension and a choice between leaf spring non-independent rear suspension or multi-link independent suspension for enhanced ride comfort. The vehicle also features trailer assist and Level 2 driving assistance for added convenience and safety.
