Driving the McLaren Artura: A Thrilling Experience

I had the incredible opportunity to stay at the luxurious Maybourne Riviera hotel in Monte Carlo for the press launch of the McLaren Artura Spider back in June. However, it was the regular coupé version of the Artura that truly caught my attention due to the mechanical updates it received.

Equipped with extra power from the V6 engine, stiffer engine mounts, new adaptive dampers, and an enhanced engine-sound symposer system, the Artura was a car I was eager to experience on the road. My chance came at Cadwell Park in October, where the Artura exceeded all expectations.

During the Britain’s Best Driver’s Car contest, the Artura showcased its exceptional blend of suppleness, tactility, and intuitive poise. Despite being the most powerful and only true mid-engined contender at the event, it effortlessly outperformed the competition in terms of lap pace and road composure.

As I reflect on my time with the Artura, I can’t help but acknowledge the journey it has taken to reach this point. From technical issues on the original press launch to a redesigned intercooler, the Artura has faced its fair share of challenges. However, it now stands as the finest series-production model in McLaren’s current lineup.
