Experience with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: A Thrilling Ride

After receiving the keys to a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, my first adventure took me to a Gatwick Airport car park. However, my return journey was not without a few bumps – quite literally. Maneuvering through a tight spiral ramp, I managed to kerb two wheels in quick succession, leaving me feeling a bit defeated.

This incident was far more dramatic than previous encounters with other vehicles, such as a Vauxhall Adam on the North Circular or a McLaren 570S in the Channel Tunnel. The size and weight of the Ioniq 5 N became apparent as I navigated the challenging drive home. Despite the rave reviews from road testers, I couldn’t help but feel intimidated by its sheer presence.

While contemplating the damage done, I awaited the Hyundai representative to assess the situation. In the meantime, I relied on public transportation to get around, avoiding any further mishaps with the impressive but formidable Ioniq 5 N.

However, fate had other plans as I found myself at Bedford Autodrome for a scheduled photoshoot with the Hyundai. Despite my initial reservations, I was pleasantly surprised by the car’s performance on the track. Its ability to drift effortlessly through corners, with a sense of control and predictability, was truly exhilarating.

While some may view the manual gearbox and engine sound enhancements as mere gimmicks, they add to the overall appeal of the Ioniq 5 N. But the real standout feature is the electronic limited slip differential, which elevates the car’s agility, responsiveness, and playfulness on the road.
