Jeep is gearing up for the launch of its second global electric SUV, the Recon EV. With its official debut on the horizon, recent spy photos have given us a closer look at the Wrangler-inspired electric SUV as it charges in production form.

The Recon EV is part of Jeep’s new EV lineup, which also includes the recently unveiled Wagoneer S and Avenger. While the Avenger has already been launched in Europe, the Recon is generating much excitement as it gets ready for its official release.

Inspired by the legendary Wrangler, the Recon EV promises to deliver the rugged capabilities that Jeep is known for, but with zero tailpipe emissions. The electric SUV is designed to tackle any terrain with ease, all while operating quietly.

The latest images of the Recon EV charging at an EVgo station reveal a design that stays true to the concept, with a rugged and boxy exterior reminiscent of the Ford Bronco. The interior, which was recently spotted in Michigan, features a large infotainment screen at the center and a smaller driver display screen next to it. The signature Selec-Terrain system offers various driving modes like “Rock” and “Mud,” with additional options like Snow, Sport, and Tow expected to be included.

The display screen shows a remaining range of 147 miles at 66% charge, indicating a potential range of around 223 miles. Based on the same STLA Large platform as the Wagoneer S, the Recon EV is expected to offer a similar range and performance.

While the Wagoneer S is set to arrive at US dealerships in January 2025 with a starting price of $71,995, the Recon EV is anticipated to debut shortly after with an estimated starting price of around $60,000. Premium trims like the Rubicon could cost upwards of $80,000.

Overall, Jeep’s Recon EV is shaping up to be a formidable contender in the electric SUV market, combining the brand’s iconic design and off-road capabilities with eco-friendly technology. Stay tuned for more updates as the official launch approaches.
