SAIC-GM-Wuling recently made headlines by announcing a significant price cut for its all-electric Binguo SUV, making this affordable model even more accessible to consumers. The move brings the price of an electric model with a range of 500 kilometers below RMB 90,000 yuan, a milestone in the electric vehicle market.

The Binguo SUV was launched on September 20, 2024, and comes in three different variants. The variant with a CLTC range of 401 kilometers now starts at RMB 82,800, down from RMB 84,800. Similarly, the variant with a CLTC range of 510 kilometers now starts at RMB 89,800, reduced from RMB 95,800. The third variant, with a CLTC range of 330 kilometers, maintains its starting price of RMB 75,800.

All three models of the Binguo SUV are equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries with capacities ranging from 31.9 kWh to 50.6 kWh. They also feature a permanent magnet synchronous front motor with a maximum power of 75 kW and maximum torque of 180 Nm.

This price adjustment is a rare move in the electric vehicle market and highlights SAIC-GM-Wuling’s commitment to making electric vehicles more affordable for consumers. With the price of a model with a 500-kilometer range now below RMB 90,000, the company is set to attract more customers looking for a budget-friendly electric vehicle option.

Overall, SAIC-GM-Wuling’s price cut for the Binguo SUV is a significant development in the electric vehicle market and is expected to drive further competition and innovation in the industry. As more automakers strive to make electric vehicles more accessible to consumers, we can expect to see more affordable options with longer ranges hitting the market in the near future.
