Xiaomi SU7 has a secret fish mode as demonstrated by one owner

The Xiaomi SU7, known for its innovative features, boasts a unique function that sets it apart from other electric vehicles – the fish mode. While many EVs have a pet mode, the fish mode of the Xiaomi SU7 allows owners to transport fish without worrying about the accompanying smell. This feature was highlighted by Lei Jun, the CEO of Xiaomi, sparking interest among fishing enthusiasts.

The fish mode may sound like an exaggeration, but it serves a practical purpose. The Xiaomi SU7 comes with a spacious frunk, one of the largest in the Chinese EV market, with a 105-liter capacity made of plastic. The frunk is equipped with two small rubber plugs at the bottom for easy drainage, making it ideal for carrying fish and even storing them in water. The ability to drain and clean the frunk after use adds to its convenience, with a seal preventing any leakage into other parts of the car.

A video circulating online showcases a fishing enthusiast loading seven large fish into the Xiaomi SU7’s frunk, demonstrating its capacity and leak-proof design. Despite the size of the fish, the frunk holds up without any issues, impressing onlookers with its functionality.

The Xiaomi SU7 made waves in 2024, with deliveries starting in April and reaching an impressive 135,000 units by the end of the year. Lei Jun set a sales target of 300,000 for 2025, a goal that seems achievable considering the company’s success with the SU7 and the upcoming launch of the YU7, Xiaomi’s second model. Production of the YU7 will take place in the second phase of Xiaomi’s Beijing factory, further boosting their delivery numbers.

With Xiaomi already delivering over 20,000 SU7 models per month, the 300,000 sales target for 2025 appears within reach. The company’s foray into the electric vehicle market has been met with enthusiasm, setting the stage for further growth and innovation in the coming years.
