Convertible Version of Hongqi H6 Car Revealed in Patent Drawings
Recently, patent drawings have surfaced showcasing a convertible version of the popular Hongqi H6 car. The drawings depict a soft-top 2-door, four-seater vehicle, sparking curiosity about whether Hongqi will actually bring this model to production.
The front of the convertible closely resembles the existing H6 sedan, with the major difference being the removal of the top to create a sleek and sporty profile. The rear of the car maintains similarities to the sedan, which features a liftback design.
The dimensions of the regular H6 sedan are quite substantial, measuring at 4990mm in length, 1880mm in width, 1455mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2920mm. It is expected that the convertible version may have a slightly shorter length. The patent drawings also reveal stylish 5-spoke wheels that complement the overall design.
The rear of the convertible features the same through-type tail lights as the sedan, along with a dual mid-mounted exhaust system that adds a sporty touch to the design.
As of now, there is limited information available about the convertible model. The current sedan version is equipped with a 2.0T engine that comes in two power outputs.
The lower-powered variant delivers 165 kW of power and 340 Nm of torque, offering a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds and a WLTC fuel consumption figure of 6.5 L/100km. On the other hand, the more potent version generates 185 kW and 380 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds with a fuel consumption of 6.8 L/100 km. Both versions are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Recently, a convertible version of the Avatr 06 was also spotted, hinting at a potential trend in the Chinese automotive market. While convertible cars have not been prevalent in China, there is a growing interest in imported open-top vehicles.
While convertible sales have historically been modest in China, there is potential for growth in this segment. Only a few local manufacturers, such as BYD with the S8 convertible hardtop, have ventured into producing convertible models for the market.
With the emergence of convertible models from Chinese automakers like Hongqi and Avatr, it will be interesting to see if these concepts translate into actual production vehicles. Stay tuned for more updates on the Hongqi H6 convertible as more information becomes available.
